Dunkin' Donuts Croissant Donut

I know, I know... "local only".  But the Cronut is only available from that ONE bakery in that ONE city.  So, when DD introduced the knock off (and let's be real, anyone who knows how to make croissants can make a Cronut.  You're not special, NYC), I had to try it.

First thought while cold, it's nothing special.  I mean it's good, but it's no Boston crème.

But the trick with Krispy Kreme glazed donuts (while cold) is to heat them in the microwave for 7 second.  Into the microwave with you, fake Cronut!

And... eh.  Still good, better when warm, but it doesn't live up to the hype.  I'd rather have a French cruller any day.  The Fake Cronut (or FC) has a layered goodness that you'd expect from a croissant, but none of the buttery-ness.

I'd also like to mention that the FC is twice the price of regular donuts. I'd rather have a Boston crème AND a French cruller in the place of this one.

I'd also like to mention that DD has a seasonal flavor that I really love: Pumpkin Crème Brulee.  Not even close to being as cloyingly sweet as your typical PSL.
